Last Sunday (8/19), some of us from the young adult ministry at Calvary (including the younger young adults) took a field trip to check out two cool ministries which are reaching young adults..

1. National Community Church
NCC meets in the theaters of Union Station. The people were definitely friendly and it was a cool worship experience. There’s something about meeting in a theater that makes it feel like worlds are colliding—the sacred and the secular. Movie theaters generally show movies of all kinds. So, it was interesting to be there worshiping God, knowing that in a few hours they will be playing a movie…

Highlights:
o great sermon by Heather—she nailed it and it really struck a chord with what we’re talking about
o most comfortable church chair ever
o hanging at Ebeneezers (coffee house run by NCC) afterwards
o meeting Amanda and Ryan

2. Frontline Ministries of McLean Bible Church
Frontline is one of the biggest worship experiences that I’ve ever attended. You know it’s going to be big when they have a parking garage! I’m not good with numbers, but I’d estimate a couple of thousand young adults were there. It was a great experience!

Highlights:
o musical component of worship
o great sermon by Todd Phillips—really challenged some ideas on giving and connected it to prayer & worship
o people everywhere—I LOVE CROWDS!
